All or Nothin' |

When Mary and I first started dating in college, she was, well, more popular with the guys than I was with the girls. Let’s just say she had options. Once we started dating, I wanted her all to myself. She seemed to think dating other guys was still the plan. This bothered me, a lot. So I sat her down one day and sang her a song. It was the song from Oklahoma, the musical, that Will Parker sang to Ado Annie, who was dating around on him—kinda like Mary. The chorus goes like this, “With me it’s all or nothin’, Is it all or nothin’ with you, You can’t be in-between, You can’t be now and then, No half-and-half romance will do.” I was trying to tell Mary that I loved her, and that what we had was all that she needed. I think God sings that song to us everyday—not so much because he needs us, but because he knows we need him. When you pray Surprise Me, God, listen. He might be singing to you. |
