David Stern? God? |
Read: |
|
What if David Stern was God? If you wanted to make his team and play basketball in Heaven you’d need to have some impressive stats, do a 360-behind-the-back-two-handed-slam-dunk with our eyes shut, have abs of steel, the Magic feel, be fleet of foot, ambidextrous, sport a marketable personality that would fill the stands and grow the brand, and be Yao-Duncan-KG-Stinking-Ming tall. Basically you would need to be more than you are. Good thing David Stern isn’t God. We’ve all been offered a chance to play on his team. In 2 Peter 3:9 it says, “He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish.” The Message says, “He’s giving everyone space and time to change.” Maybe these 30-days of Surprise Me are your ‘space and time,’ your chance to say to God, “I want to play on your team. I know I’m not that great of a ball handler, but you said you want me anyhow. Lucky me. Thanks for choosing me—see you at practice.” I hope by this time in your Surprise Me experiment, you’re starting to fall in love with this coach. |
