Title:		Stepford Lives
Read:		Remember the movie, The Stepford Wives? Well, Mary and I went to see the remake version of that old movie. You know the story—these dissatisfied husbands in the community of Stepford figured out a way to mess with Mother Nature and turn their spouses into ‘dream’ wives. They were all fit, cute, obedient, and pampering with Saccharin dispositions. Essentially they were robotic, plaster of Paris Barbie dolls. While watching this movie I got a weird sense that I was looking at the church. I think sometimes we look plastic, everything is perfect, or we pretend it is. We speak our own language; we’re not always as authentic as we should be. I’m pointing the finger at me too. I think we might look a bit Stepford to some people. Let’s crack the plaster veneer. Let’s be real. Let’s not act like we’ve got it all together if we don’t, and we don’t, nobody does. Christians are human beings too. Luckily, God loves us, flaws and all. Good thing he doesn’t think like a Stepford husband.
