The Tricky Backpack |

My friend, Nancy, told me about one of her Surprise Me experiences. Her husband was heading out to get some office supplies and he asked Nancy to just ride along. She was tired, but agreed. When they got to the store she said she was going to stay in the car and rest. She had just reclined her seat and closed her eyes when she heard some noise outside her window. She looked and saw and old man trying to put on his newly purchased backpack, loaded with stuff. His transportation was a bicycle and every time he got on the bike, his pack would fall off. Nancy, knowing backpacks are usually not worn on your chest, opened her door and with gentle kindness and grace said, “These new backpacks are so confusing. I can hardly figure them out either. Let me see if I can help you.” She helped him put it on correctly, gave him a smile and sent him on his way. When you pray, “Surprise Me, God,” you may be called on to do something as simple as helping someone figure out how to carry their load. |
